Uses

 A Liver Detoxing Tea

 A tea of bitter liver-supporting herbs promotes digestion, elimination and detoxification.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALC)

Helps convert fatty acids to energy and a high Carnitine level is needed in the liver to handle increase fatty acid produced by alcohol consumption, a high fat diet, chemical exposure or hepatitis. However exposure to these can lead to a carnitine deficiency that can be reversed by supplementing with Acetyl-L-Carnitine.

Although there are no studies that show that if ALC can be helpful in reducing the damage done to the liver by chronic viral hepatitis it has been reported that it is very useful in improving memory and mental functioning.

Amla-Emblic Myrobalans

 A compilation of applications for emblica fruits was carried out by several Ayurvedic writers during the last 25 years. The main indications are:

Beet (Beta vulgaris rubra)

Bringaraj (eclipta alba)

Chicory (Cichorium intybus)

 Chicory is often recommended for jaundice and or spleen problems. The juice of the leaves and a tea made from the flowering plant promote the production of bile, the release of gallstones, and the elimination of excessive internal mucus. They are also useful for gastritis, lack of appetite, and digestive difficulties

Cleavers (Galium aparine)

 Very valuable plan and perhaps the best tonic for the lymphatic system. Often described as a blood purifier cleavers can be used for conditions where the body is failing to rid itself of toxins. Liquidize or pulp the fresh plant for a diuretic or lymphatic cleanser to help glandular fever or swollen glands, tonsillitis, adenoidal trouble, prostate disorders; use  an infusion for urinary problems such as cystitis and gravel;

Cordyceps

The great classic of Chinese medicine, Cordyceps is described in detail and is considered potent at strengthening lung and kidneys, increasing energy and vitality, stopping hemorrhage, decreasing phlegm, and as an overall tonic.

Cordyceps (Dongchongxiacao)

 Functions:

  1. To tonify lungs and kidneys;
  2. To stop bleeding;
  3. To resolve phlegm

Cordyceps Extract

 Nourishes the Lungs and fortifies the Kidneys: used for cough, night sweats, impotence, spermatorrhea, and weakness during recovery from a severe illness. Because it tonifies both the Yin and Yang and is a very safe substance, it can be taken over a long period of time.

Cordyceps Sinensis Hyphas Mycelium (90 x 12)

Culvers Root

Dandelion

 Clinical trials have shown Dandelion to be effective in treating pneumonia, bronchitis and upper respiratory infections. It also helps with kidney function, pancreas, spleen, stomach, tinnitis, tonsilitis, osteoporosis, abscesses, anemia, boils, breast tumors, cirrhosis of the liver, fluid retention, hepatitis, jaundice, rheumatism and warts.

Dandelion Root

 Believed to cleanse the bloodstream and the liver and increase the production of bile. Improves functions of the pancreas, spleen, stomach, and kidneys.

 

Echinacea

Stimulates certain white blood cells and has anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties.  Good for the immune system and the lymphatic system.  Useful for colic colds, flu, and other infectious illnesses.

Feverfew

Acts as a bulk laxative, lubricates the intestines, and reduces fever.  Good for the eyes.  Helps asthma and sinus problems by reducing mucus.

Fringe Tree

 Medicinal Action and Uses---Aperient, diuretic. Some authorities regard it as tonic and slightly narcotic. It is used in typhoid, intermittent, or bilious fevers, and externally, as a poultice, for inflammations or wounds. Is useful in liver complaints.

Gall-Bladder Confortability

 Soothing liver, rectifying qi, excreting bile. This product is used to treat chronic cholecystitis due to gall-stone, chronic cholecystitis, as well as stones in the billiary tract and gall-bladder which are due to qi stagnation of the liver and gall-bladder, or damp heat stagnation in the stomach.

Gall-Smoothening Stone-Expelling

 Clearing heat, excreting dampness, smoothening gall, expelling stone. This product is used to treat gall-stone, billiary tract inflammation and cholecystitis.

Gallstone Opening Capsule

Gardenia

Gentian Liver-Discharging Granule

 Clearing liver and gall-bladder, disinhibiting damp-heat. It is prescribed for patients suffering from damp-heat of the liver and gall-bladder which result in dizziness, blood-shot eyes, tinnitis, deafness,  painful ears, painful right rib-side, bitter taste in the mouth, etc.

Gentians

 Gentian is one of the most useful of our bitter vegetable tonics. It is specially useful in states of exhaustion from chronic disease and in all cases of general debility, weakness of the digestive organs and want of appetite. It is one of the best strengtheners of the human system, and is an excellent tonic to combine with a purgative to prevent its debilitating effects.

Ginkgo Extracts Show Promise

 Compared with the placebo group, the EGb group included twice as many patients whose cognitive performance improved and half as many whose social functioning worsened. In clinical terms, improvement on the ADAS-Cog of four points may be equivalent to a six-month delay in the progression of the disease. EGb appears to stabilize and, in an additional 20 percent of cases (vs. placebo), improve the patient's functioning for periods of six months to one year

Ginseng

Goldenseal

 Goldenseal has recently gained a reputation as a herbal antibiotic and immune system enhancer . Traditionally it was used for treatment of inflammatory conditions of the mucus membranes, especially those of the digestive system. It’s traditional uses include treatment of peptic ulcers, gastritis, dyspepsia and colitis. It has proven its value in cases of diarrhea, haemorrhoids and habitual constipation. It is said to stimulate appetite and generally have a toning effect on the whole body.

Gotu kola

Kombucha Tea

 The working of the organism in the liquid reduces greatly the sugar and caffeine content of the tea, and produces large amounts of B vitamins, minerals, substances that are reported to act as anti-bacterial and anti-viral agents, and various acids, as well as unknown substances.

Leisurely Carefree Pill

While some such agents have long been used in traditional (e.g., Chinese) medicine, most have not been studied in Western clinical trials.

Mugwort

Medicinal Action and Uses---It has stimulant and slightly tonic properties, and is of value as a nervine and emmenagogue, having also diuretic and diaphoretic action.

Its chief employment is as an emmenagogue, often in combination with Pennyroyal and Southernwood. It is also useful as a diaphoretic in the commencement of cold.  

Multiple Formula Gall-Opening

N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC)

 N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) is commonly administered as an antidote against acetaminophen (paracetamol) intoxication and is the preferred agent in the treatment of pulmonary diseases. It is furthermore commonly considered that it restrains human immuodeficiency virus (HIV) replication by scavenging reactive oxygen intermediates (ROI) and thus suppressing activation of nuclear factor kappa B (NF kappa B). We Show here that NAC is in addition able to inhibit hepatitis B virus (HBV) replication, but by a mechanism independent of the intracellular level of reactive oxygen intermediates.

Pau d’Arco

Peppermint

Enhances digestion by increasing stomach acidity.  Slightly anesthetizes mucous membranes and the gastrointestinal tract.

Phylanthus Amarus/Nituri/Nirruri

 "Abstract: In a preliminary study, carriers of hepatitis B virus were treated with a preparation of the plant Phyllanthus amarus for 30 days. 22 of 37 (59%) treated patients had lost hepatitis B surface antigen when tested 15-20 days after the end of the treatment compared with only 1 of 23 (4%) placebo-treated controls.

Red Root

 The leaves of Red Root are said to contain tannin, a soft resin and bitter extract, a green coloring matter similar to green tea in color and taste, gum a volatile substance, lignin, and a principle called Ceanothine.

Red Root exhibits astringent, antispasmodic, anti-syphilitic expectorant and sedative properties, used in asthma, chronic bronchitis, whooping-cough, consumption, and dysentery; also as a mouth-wash and gargle, and as an injection in gonorrhea, gleet and leucorrhoea.

Rehmannia / Rehmannia glutinosa / Sheng di huang / Chinese Foxglove

 In Oriental medicine, the root is used to replenish vitality, strengthen the liver, kidney, and heart, and for treatment of a variety of ailments like diabetes, constipation, anemia, urinary tract problems, dizziness, and regulation of menstrual flow. In China, this herb is often recommended for insomnia, restlessness, night sweats, chronic fever, and hot flashes.

Reishi Mushrooms

 In the Orient, Reishi is considered a Fu Zhen herb (immune modulation). Presently, Reishi has various applications including lowering or raising blood pressure, stimulating liver actions, blood cleansing, and acting as an adaptogen in helping the body fight the effects of stress.

Reishi-Ganoderma Lucidum

 Known as reishi or mannentake to the Japanese and Ling Zhi to the Chinese, G. lucidum is renown for its medicinal properties. Reishi often is associated with health and recuperation, longevity, wisdom, and happiness. It is believed that certain triterpenes and polysaccharides may account for the multiple activities of Reshi.

Schisandra

 It is used as a liver restorative, lung tonic and for immune system support. Schisandra increases brain efficiency, mental alertness, work capacity and builds strength. It is useful with insomnia, hepatitis, cirrhosis, asthma, night sweats, prolonged diarrhea and immunodeficient states.

Schizandra

Schizandra given to 189 patients manifesting chronic viral hepatitis with elevated serum GPT levels. 107 were given 100 mg. of the extract (= 1.5 g of the herb) 82 cases received a liver extract-vitamin E complex as control. After 16-24 weeks of treatment, 73 of those treated with Schizandra showed a fall of serum GPT to normal levels.

 Indications: Stagnation of the liver-qi, manifested as distention and fullness in the hypochondria, poor appetite, dyspepsia, epigastralgia, epigastric upset, vomiting, belching and pantothen. Also advisable for hepatitis, gastritis, gastro-duodenal ulcer and hysteria due to stagnation of the liver-qi.

SSKT (Xiao Chai Hu Tang)

 Sho-saiko-to (SSKT) otherwise known as Minor Bupleurum Combination or Xiao Chai Hu Tang is an ancient herbal preparation used in Asia to treat what the chinese call lesser yang disorders, which includes fevers, the flu, bronchitis, lung infections, pulmonary TB, malaria, jaundice and hepatitis. Here in the 20th century, researchers have produced evidence supporting many of these traditional uses in test tube, animal studies and clinical trials in people — particularly for chronic hepatitis and liver cancer. Recent research also suggests that it may have anti-HIV effects.

Suma

Combats anemia, fatigue, and stress.  Acts as an immune system booster that may help to prevent cancer.  Good for AIDS, cancer, liver disease, high blood pressure and weakened immune system

Thymus Extracts

 The thymus gland controls your immune system in to basic ways. First it is the source of T-lymphocytes or T-cells (T stands for thymus), which are crucial in the fight against viruses, bacteria, yeast, and all other foreign invaders. Early in life the thymus gland seeds the bone marrow with immature T-cells, where they multiply and mature. It is the T-cells that are destroyed by the HIV virus and their destruction brings on full-blown AIDS.

 This formula originates in Treatise on Febrile Disease. Modern researches have proved that the recipe has some effects of inhibiting bacteria, viruses and leptospira, relieving the reaction of the human body to the invaded pathogen, and remarkably allaying fever and resisting inflammation.

Xiao Chai Hu Tang Wan (200)

  the recipe also has the effects of promoting digestion, preventing vomiting, expelling phlegm, relieving cough, protecting the liver, normalizing the functioning of the gallbladder and tranquilizing the mind. The recipe can be modified as herbal supplement for the common cold, malaria, infection of biliary tract, hepatitis, pleuritis, chronic gastritis, indigestion, mastosis, intercostal neuralgia, neurosis and AIDS marked by the symptoms of shaoyang disease.
